Evening of Caribbean Jazz & Folk

August 4, 2013 @ 7:30 pm

$40

Trinidad-born trumpeter Etienne Charles headlines the evening, performing tracks from his new album, Creole Soul which highlights a myriad of inspirations from Haitian creole chants and blues to bebop and R&B while drawing on an array of rhythms including Rocksteady, Reggae, Bel Air, Kongo and Calypso.

From his first album, ‘Nocturnal Affair’ to his most recent Havana Nights’, Eddie Bullen gives his audience a taste of contemporary jazz, flavoured with Caribbean and Latin rhythms.

For most West Indians, the name La Petite Musicale is synonymous with the immortal Olive Walke and the legendary folk-choir that she founded in Port of Spain more than a half century ago. La Petite Musicale of Toronto was established by a core group of members from the parent company in Trinidad and Tobago. The groupʼs repertoire includes traditional Spanish and French folk songs, gospel, classical renditions, calypso and parang.
