Bayanihan Interactive Art Installation

August 7, 2013 @ 11:00 am - 7:00 pm

FREE

As part of Daniels Spectrum’s Outdoor Arts Program and Kapisanan Philippine Centre for Arts and Culture’s 8th Annual KULTURA Filipino Arts Festival, Toronto-based Filipino artists Julius Poncelet Manupul, Kristina Guison, and Tim Manalo will collaborate with Regent Park to lead Bayanihan: An Interactive Art Installation at Daniels Spectrum.

The project will bring these established Filipino-Canadian artists with the local community to create a life-sized woven bahay kubo—a Filipino hut.

This project will embody the spirit of BAYANIHAN not only in its literal act of a community creating a collective piece, but also in highlighting the universality of the theme of home in different cultural backgrounds. During this event, participants will unearth their personal stories of home through paint and merge with others to discover the power of the community’s greater narrative.

*This event is part of the 2013 Daniels Spectrum Outdoor Arts Program and was made possible through the generous contribution of an Anonymous Donor to the Artscape Foundation.
