Bullets to Butterflies

May 30, 2013 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

FREE

Malala Yousafzai

Three Canadian women artists explore the story of Malala Yousafzai – the 14 year old Pakistani school girl who was shot because of her work promoting access to education for young girls.

This collaborative exhibition and interactive art installation brings together the work of Unaiza Karim, Saba Syed, and Huma Durrani. Join them at the Gardiner Museum to hear more about how Malala’s story inspired this project.

“We thought the best way to convey our horror and hope for change in this circumstance would be through visual expression.  Combining traditional and modern art forms our work explores darker themes surrounding the war waged against the innocent. Through visual and written expression we hope to create a pathway to metamorphosis from bullets to butterflies.”

This exhibit will be in the South Lobby from May 6th – May 30th for visitors to view.

The reception will be held on May 30th, from 6-8pm. All are welcome to attend.

This exhibit has been sponsored by Farahway Global, Daniels Spectrum and The Centre for Social Innovation, Regent Park.
