Sister Mary’s a Dyke?!
May 28, 2013$15 – $25
Born out of Buddies in Bad Times Theater’s Young Creator’s Unit and further developed by Carlos Bulosan Theater, emerging queer Filipino-Canadian playwright Flerida Peña grabs the Catholic church by the horns and turns it on its head.
The piece follows Abby, a pious and naive teenager, whose first day at Crown of Thorns Academy sends her on a quest beyond the walls of her all-girl’s school to the grounds of St. Peter’s Square. It’s a tender coming-of-age, coming-out-of-the-closet story with a wicked mission impossible twist. And throughout the play’s journey, you can bet that Jesus is guiding the way on this rip-roaring, atypical adventure comedy.
