The Besetting of Reena Virk

December 2, 2012 @ 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm

Free

The fates of two teenage girls changed irrevocably the night one took another’s life. Stuck together in limbo, Reena Virk, victim, and Kelly Ellard, murderer, fight to reclaim the humanity they have been deprived of by one another, and by society.

Reena’s own story is the only one we don’t hear in the vulturish telling and re-telling of her murder, and she struggles to reclaim it. Kelly denies her part in a crime in which some 30 people had a direct hand, and for which she alone is held accountable.

In this world where power is the ultimate objective, and the self is pitted against the other in the quest for power, are these two souls doomed to perpetually fight for dominance over one another, or can they come to see one another for who they really are, and possibly even embrace one another’s otherness?

The performance runs approximately 60 minutes and will be followed by a talk-back session.
